Weekend Warriors!

Wow, am I tired. This day light savings time is killing me. This past weekend was wonderful, but very busy. On Friday, I made various paper crafts in anticipation of being a vendor at a local barn where my daughter participated in a horse show. Blustery days and paper crafts DO NOT mix. After setting up my tent and table, and getting ready for customers, the winds went wild. The roof of the tent nearly blew away, and off went the items on the table; PAPER CRAFTS, mind you. Paper tends to be hard to catch. After getting a little help from some new friends, we relocated the tent to the other side of the barn to block the wind... NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. I finally threw in the towel.

My Sara did an amazing job, although her horse Khandi Bey was a little under the weather. She received 2 thirds and 1 fourth. I am amazed at her drive to compete. Below are some of the photos I took (yay me!)

My niece Hayes competed in her first lead line class. She was absolutely adorable and soooo proud of her "blue ribbon". Her older sister Hannah led Hayes around on their pony, Chloe. Hannah also competed and also brought home a lot of blue! It actually was a total family affair, as Jason, the girls' father was the cook for the "Galaxy Grill". Yummy burgers, I might add.

On Sunday, Sara and I mended fences at our barn all day. There never seems to be enough time in the day to get everything done.

Sweet Sunday Sketch #59

I spent most of today in my scrapbook room. It's usually quite enjoyable, but I am in crunch time for the horse show, so much of today was working on cute little cards to show off next Saturday. I did, however, look at the sweetest thing... and was delighted to see that there was another Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge posted. I love these challenges and couldn't help but to enter. Here is the original sketch.

While I enjoy how the card came out, I will admit that Crushed Curry is not one of my favorite colors!

A little bit of me...

I spent much of today with my daughter, Sara. She made a deal with me that if I took her to Starbucks, she would go to Joann's with me. Even though she knows there is always ONE more stop. We do enjoy our Starbucks (although going on Saturday = BAD IDEA. It was busy, busy, busy!)

After our errands, she managed some time to ride as she is preparing for a horse show next weekend. As I watched her ride, I remember when I was her age. I could ride for hours and for that short time, it was just me and my horse. I see a lot of that in Sara and her horse. I have to admit that she is so much better at riding than I was. She rides english and is so disciplined, making sure her posture is good, leads are correct and has very quiet hands. I was more of a "hop on your back and ride where ever." Even though we are very different, she is a little bit of me, and I love that. :)

Monthly Recipe Card Class

Starting Friday, April 9th, I am hosting a recipe card making class. Come and enjoy some girl time and sharing family favorites! The class will be hosted monthly. At 6:30 pm, we will get together to make two 8 x 8 recipe/scrapbook cards; as an added bonus, you can swap your favorite recipes with other ladies there to try out some new dishes.

The fee for the class will be $12, which will include all of your supplies and food/drinks.

The deadline for RSVP'ing will be March 26th. Please try to RSVP by then so I can get all of your materials ready! Don't worry if you are not able to attend, as I can prepare a kit and send it to you so you can still be included in the fun.

Cedar Ridge blog

I just had to take a moment to post the link for one of the blogs I follow. Nichole Heady is such a talented lady. I enjoy her blog and the wonderful creations she shares. Today she posted photos of the property she and her husband purchased that will be their new homestead. Looking at the photos that Nichole posted gave me chills. It is amazing to see all the beautiful things God has given us to enjoy as evidenced by her photos. I am excited to follow the journey of this lucky family.

Now, it's off to go work on my own homestead!

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge # 58

In my morning quite time, I like to look through blogs I frequently follow. This morning proved to be rather interesting, as I stumbled across a certain contest that was hosted on Karen's blog. I decided to enter her Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge, and I hope it will be the first of many.
