Cedar Ridge blog

I just had to take a moment to post the link for one of the blogs I follow. Nichole Heady is such a talented lady. I enjoy her blog and the wonderful creations she shares. Today she posted photos of the property she and her husband purchased that will be their new homestead. Looking at the photos that Nichole posted gave me chills. It is amazing to see all the beautiful things God has given us to enjoy as evidenced by her photos. I am excited to follow the journey of this lucky family.

Now, it's off to go work on my own homestead!

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge # 58

In my morning quite time, I like to look through blogs I frequently follow. This morning proved to be rather interesting, as I stumbled across a certain contest that was hosted on Karen's blog. I decided to enter her Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge, and I hope it will be the first of many.

Here's the photo of Karen's lovely sketch, and my attempt at making a card.

The materials that I used:
Paper: Old Olive, Whisper White and Cottage Wall (DPS)
Ink: Old Olive
Punches: Boho Blossoms, Modern Labels, and Word Window.

I am planning to give this card to my dear friend Karen for her birthday next week. Let me know what you think.

February Fun - Stamp a Stack!

I couldn't help but count the days this wek until February 25th. The reason? My new friend and fellow demonstrater, Debi Kyle hosted our monthly Stamp a Stack at her lovely home. Our team of demonstrators, including Jeri, Debi, and Jeannie grouped together and invited our friends and family to come and enjoy a night of card making. it was a group effort and it turned out to be a fantastic evening.

My aunt Becky and her friend Joanne came with me. Joanne is an experienced card maker, and she said that she absolutely loves crafting. My aunt Becky, however, is newer to scrapbooking and just came for a fun night. However, as we strolled in together, she took one look at all of the ladies who had their materials spread out on tables and quietly mentioned, "This is serious."

I can't wait until the next Stamp a Stack! For those of you who are interested in joining our group, please visit my Stampin' Up! website for more infortmation.

Work in Progress

Today I started a new sewing project. For those of you who know me, I am NOT a sewer, and would rather buy a new article of clothing than to sew a button back on it. I got the idea for this project from Angie Kennedy Juda. Although I am not a sewer, I find that (for the most part) sewing is very relaxing... unless I become upset when the sewing machine doesn't work!

My friend Jeannie and I are preparing these projects for a horse show in March that my daughter is participating in. Since we both enjoy crafting, especially paper crafting, we are going to team up and offer a few crafts at the show, including the purse (once it is finished!)

Money Envelope

I have been using the money envelope system for sometime now. I won't say that I am perfect at it, but using cash does make you think twice about buying something (unless it is scrapbooking supplies or purses). The envelopes I am using now came from Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace seminar and are worn out. During my blog hopping, I saw a post on http://kelleighratzlaff.com/ and wanted to make one for myself. Kelleigh did a great job with the tutorial and even has a place to download the template. I put my own spin on it by adding binding, my own labels and an envelope for coupons in the back. I am really happy with the way it turned out. As it turns out, Kelleigh uses the money envelope system too.

New signature!

I am so excited. My daughter, Sara is so talented. I showed her some of the signatures on the craft blogs that I frequent and this is what she came up with for me. I love it. I hope you do too.

Club Create Photos!

Last night, I hosted my first monthly Club Create workshop! It was successful, and I had an amazing time with everyone who came. We created many cute cards and mini scrapbooks, and I even managed to get someone who was interested in having a party for her daughter!

One of my guests wanted to show off her scrapbook, as it was for another family member. I thought that she did amazing!

I also was so happy that my friend Jeannie came, as she gave me some great advice and helped me add some special flares to some of my creations. Thanks Jeannie!

Unfortunately, we couldn't have much peace and quiet. One of our dogs decided that we were neglecting her and she wanted attention, so she climbed onto our scrapbook table. Also, one of the younger girls brought "Just Dance!" on the Wii, and they spent some time playing with it. Their favorite song to dance to? African Tribal Music. It certainly brought on some good laughs!
